I really hate telling people their hard drive is toast. I’ve developed some great techniques in the past year or so for recovering data, but still it’s a crapshoot when someone brings me their drive full of important data that has no backup. One of the Super Volunteers around GCC brought me a drive that had already been looked at and found dead. I was excited to try some of my new stuff on it. But when I powered it up, it made some terrible high pitched noise (I was waiting for a pack of wild dogs to attack) and the dreaded clicking sound.
I tried my newest tools on corpse drive, but to no avail. I gave the lifeless drive back to the owner and told him of a place I’d heard of who has really cheap prices… the only trouble was that I couldn’t remember the name of the place. So I went back and started looking for it and a couple of weeks later I found it. The name of the place is Gillware and their pricing is very reasonable usually only $378.99 for a windows drive.
The user was excited to get the drive off to Gillware so he filled out the form, packed it up, and shipped it off. Once the drive arrives at Gillware they look it over and call the owner. They see plenty of his files and can deliver the documents folders for the posted web price but the user wants to make sure he gets everything so he asks for everything. They get him the entire contents of a 40 gig drive for less than $750 dollars.
I’ve been doing this stuff for awhile now and this is the first time I’ve ever heard of anyone coming out of a clean room for less than $1500 dollars. I was really surprised but thankful that I now have yet another recovery option.

I'm a huge Gillware fan - somehow, one of my sites magically is at the top of the Google search for "Gillware" to reflect my love for the company. I used them and they saved me - hugely!
